Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva marked her 64th birthday on Sunday, and admirers across the country took to social media to celebrate the beloved screen legend.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that tributes poured in from fans, colleagues, and fellow entertainers, who filled platforms like Instagram with heartfelt messages, prayers, and warm wishes for the iconic actress.
Silva, known for her poise and depth in both English and Yoruba-language films, had earlier posted a gratitude-filled message on her verified Instagram account, @Ajokesilva, to mark the occasion.
“Grateful Lord for your Mercy, your Faithfulness, for protection, for Provision, for Family, for Friends, for Colleagues,” she wrote. “Thank you King of Glory for 64 amazing years.”

Born on September 29, 1961, in Lagos, Joke Silva’s acting journey has spanned decades. Her breakthrough came in 1998 when she starred alongside Colin Firth and Nia Long in The Secret Laughter of Women, a British-Canadian drama.
Her career includes a wide range of performances in both film and television, and she has been a prominent figure in Nigerian cinema since the early ’90s. One of her earliest roles was in the 1990 English TV series Mind Bending.
Over the years, Silva has received numerous accolades for her work. In 2006, she won “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
She was also named a goodwill ambassador by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in 2012 and received the national honor of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2014.
