Some of the food items distributed to the beneficiaries
All Progressive Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman North East zone, Alhaji Mustapha Salihu, has donated 21 trucks of foodstuffs to both Christians and Muslims.
Speaking during the distribution of the food items in Yola on Wednesday, the representative of Salihu, a chieftain of APC, Alhaji Danjuma Ilyasu, sai the foodstuffs are to be shared to Christians and Muslims in all the 226 wards and the 21 local governments in the state.
“These foodstuffs are for those who are fasting– both the Christmas and Muslims– are fasting, so it is not only for one group”.
He added, “We are extending the gesture to other organisations like civil society organisations and non-governmental organisations for equitable distribution to identify special group in the state “.
Ilyasu disclosed that money would also be giving to the beneficiaries to enable them transport the food items to their various destinations.
“What you are witnessing here today is a yearly ritual, comrade is distributing foodstuffs to members of the public every year during fasting periods and when there is a disaster like what happens last year August in Yola South Local Government, he donated foodstuffs”, he stated.
He urged the beneficiaries to take the foodstuffs to their families and not market for sale.
The foodstuffs comprises of rice, sugar, semovita, Sphaheti and other food items
