Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) as a centre of excellence for specialised military and civilian training aimed at addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), gave the assurance while receiving members of the University’s Governing Council at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Defence Minister said the government remains committed to transforming NAUB into a leading institution for advanced military education, research and capacity development.
Musa stressed that the university plays a strategic role in producing highly skilled personnel with the technical knowledge and operational expertise needed to confront modern and complex security threats facing the country.
He also disclosed that the Ministry of Defence would work closely with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to maximise the 30 per cent admission quota reserved for military personnel.
According to him, the initiative is expected to bridge critical skills gaps and strengthen national security capabilities.
Speaking during the visit, the Pro-Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University Biu, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), commended the Defence Minister for what he described as his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture.
Buratai said General Musa’s strategic direction and support for the university continue to enhance the country’s military education system and contribute significantly to national security.
