A fire broke out at Shafa Filling Station in Garki Area 3, Abuja, on Thursday night. Thick black smoke rose into the sky as the fire spread.
When NATIONAL ACCORD correspondent arrived at the scene, officials of the Federal Fire Service were already working to put out the fire. Security personnel also cordoned off the area and kept residents and motorists at a safe distance.

Eye witnesses at the scene said the fire may have started while fuel was being discharged from a tanker. However, the exact cause of the incident had not been officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

There was no official confirmation of any casualty or the extent of the damage. Firefighters remained at the scene to completely extinguish the fire and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings.
