One-time Military Governor of Plateau State, Colonel Muhammad Mana (rtd.), has passed away at the age of 74.
Mana, who also served as Senator representing Adamawa North on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died on Saturday, after a brief illness.
His tenure as Military Administrator of Plateau State (1993 – 1996), was also a former, witnessed policies and projects that left a lasting impact on the state’s development and contributed to national progress.
While in the National Assembly between 2007 and 2011, Mana served as Member of the Senate Committees on Selection; Power; Integration, and Cooperation
.He was also appointed deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and is remembered for sponsoring an Amendment Bill on Border Areas Development Commission, 2009 and a Bill for an Act on Tobaco Control, among others.
Until his death, Senator Mana, who later joined the All Progressives Congress (APC),was chairman of the party’s Reconciliation Committee.
Tributes have continued to pour in, with Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, describing the passing of Mana as “a painful loss to his family, Plateau people, and the nation at large.”
In his condolence message, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged Mana’s contributions to peace, unity, and growth during his time in office.
He regretted that the former military governor’s wisdom and leadership qualities would be greatly missed, especially in a period when Nigeria is still grappling with the search for stability.
Governor Mutfwang, on behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Plateau State, extended his condolences to the bereaved family, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the loss.
President Bola Tinubu also condoled with the family, friends, and associates of Col Mohammed Mana (rtd), describing the former Military Administrator as a distinguished patriot and officer gentleman who gave much to his fatherland in and out of uniform.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Bayo Onanuga Saturday evening, said President Tinubu lauded Mana’s commitments to the common good and a better society, saying his counsel and leadership would be sorely missed.
President Tinubu commiserated with the people and government of Adamawa State and members of the APC family in Adamawa, who benefited from Senator Mana’s wisdom.
