Arrangements are in top gear for the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), transport organizations and stakeholders in Taraba State to synergize and squash illegal motor parks that constitute security threat and environmental hazard especially in Jalingo metropolis.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Taraba State, Abdulmaliq Bello stated this on Tuesday during an interview with NATIONAL ACCORD correspondent at the command’s headquarters, Jalingo.
Bello said the command under his watch is desirous to collaborate with critical stakeholders to discourage random motor parks on highway and unauthorized areas, which is identify as criminals safe heaven.
The Sector commander frowned at the manner in which vehicles are litter and conveyed commuters, instead of moving to designated motor terminals provided by the government.
According to him, FRSC will collaborate with NURTW, Local Government Chairmen and concern individuals to ensure that the environmental hazard caused by this menace of everywhere motor parks is control.
Bello said his presence in Taraba State is not to intimidate road users but to ensure that the fatality of road accident is reduce. He maintains that his leadership will continue with the enforcement of speed limit device on vehicles and public enlightenment on the danger of over speeding.
In a separate interview, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Taraba State branch Muhammed Manga lamented over the effect of indiscriminate motor parks on the highway.
Manga disclosed that the act has constitute security breach and also discourage passengers moving to the designated place to board their vehicle and embarked on their journey.
The chairman explained that several efforts made to draw the attention of law enforcement agencies to the menace caused by the random motor stations within unauthorized areas could not yield positive result.
However, the Deputy Director, Taraba Express International, Ibrahim Abubakar said the manner motor parks are scattered around the city is alarming and only government that has capacity of address this long existing challenge.
Ibrahim urged the government to send all illegal motor parks in to the approved terminal.
