Group wants Sen. Ewuga to emerge as new Aren Eggon

As the Eggon nation in Nasarawa State, expect the emergence of its brand new traditional ruler (Aren Eggon), tomorrow Friday, the king makers, stakeholders and all authority that have a say in the process, have been called upon to look towards the direction of Solomon Ewuga.

The call was contained in a statement by a group known as Ewuga Lovers and made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital on Thursday.

Recall that Governor Abdullahi Sule, on April 25, 2023 when he received members of the state Traditional Council, on a Sallah homage, at the Government House, Lafia, disclosed that a new Aren Eggon, is expected to emerge tomorrow, Friday.

Gov Sule, further disclosed that the Ministry for Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs, has been directed to commence the process for the selection of the new Aren Eggon, who will succeed the late Dr. Bala Angbazo, who passed away in July, last year.

According to the Governor, the Eggon Traditional Council has 22 kingmakers but with only three available to select the new Aren Eggon, the process will hold.

He assured that his administration will not interfere in the selection process even as he urged stakeholders to shun acts capable of breaching the existing peace.

“The law empowers the Governor to use even only one kingmaker to select the new Aren Eggon. We will now use the three kingmakers to select the new Aren Eggon. I don’t even know the kingmakers and won’t even meet with them,” the governor stated.

Meanwhile, the statement signed by the leader of the group, Patrick Affiku, said the former Deputy Governor, Senator and former Minister of state for FCT, Solomon Ewuga, is the best candidate for the traditional stool.

Senator Ewuga, he said, will be a wise King and he is kind, generous, compassionate, intelligent, a giver, so forgiving and many more.

“We want Ewuga, to be the new Aren Eggon, because he is a well experienced politician with the dexterity to unite our people and bring development to Eggon nation, through his numerous contacts in Nigeria”

“He has the capacity and the patience to manage different kind of personality, because of his peaceful nature and compassion, he will promote peaceful coexistence among Eggons and other tribes”.

“Ewuga is brilliant and his superior communication skills and eloquence, will make him to seamlessly make a case for Eggon nation in every fora and he will ensure justice for everyone regardless of social status, gender” the group said.

It was gathered that about 19 contenders have voluntary stepped down, remaining only 3 major contenders namely Senator Solomon Ewuga, Justice Ahmed Ubangari and Dr James Angbazo, son of the late Aren Eggon.
