The new Obong of Calabar, Etubom Anthony Ani has promised to build a new Obong of Calabar Palace that is befitting like the Buckingham Palace in the space of 36 months.

Etubom Ani, who is a former Minister of Finance, made the pledged in his country home on Thursday when members of the Ekpo Edem Royal House paid him a solidarity visit as the new Obong of Calabar-elect.

According to him, he contributed 60 percent of the present Obong of Calabar Palace and will do exactly the same thing by building a new Obong Palace.

He also promised to build a road he started in 1988 when he was Minister of Finance but was abandoned.

Additionally, he promised to support the Cross River State Government to enable it succeed.

He also promised that Cross River State will change for the betterment of the people.

It would be recalled that the former governor Ben Ayade promised to build a befitting palace of the Obong of Calabar but that dream did not see the light of the day.
