The Ior Gboko Foundation has applauded Nigerian music legend and Benue indigene, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface, for taking meaningful steps to support victims of violent attacks in his home state through humanitarian intervention and youth empowerment initiatives.
The Foundation particularly commended Tuface’s recent courtesy visit to the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty Prof. James Ayatse, during which the award-winning artiste formally informed the paramount ruler of his team’s planned humanitarian visit to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps across Benue State.
The planned outreach is aimed at delivering relief materials and providing much-needed support to thousands of victims displaced by persistent herdsmen attacks in the state.
During the visit, Tuface also unveiled plans to organise a statewide music talent hunt to discover, mentor and promote gifted young musicians of Benue origin, creating opportunities for them to pursue successful careers in the entertainment industry.
Reacting to the development, the Ior Gboko Foundation described the initiative as timely and commendable, saying it reflects the commitment of a distinguished son of the soil to give back to his people after attaining international acclaim through music.
The Foundation noted that Tuface’s intervention aligns with its own vision of promoting community development, humanitarian service and youth empowerment across Benue State.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Martin Terna Gyado, the Foundation highlighted its longstanding record of community service, noting that it has consistently undertaken projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents of Gboko and its environs.
According to the statement, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation distributed face masks and hand sanitisers to residents to support efforts at containing the spread of the virus. It also facilitated the installation of electricity transformers in Gboko South and the GRA area, while similar projects are currently underway in Gboko East and Agedam.
The Foundation further listed its interventions to include the donation of branded bedsheets to hospitals and clinics in Gboko, the distribution of reflective jackets to commercial motorcycle operators to enhance road safety during the festive season, and the implementation of its “Keep Gboko Clean” environmental sanitation campaign.
It added that the Foundation has equally extended support to vulnerable groups through the donation of palliative food items to the orphanage at Mkar and the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Gboko.
Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and development of Benue people, the Foundation, under the leadership of its President, Dr. Jimmy Ajim, pledged its full support for Tuface’s humanitarian mission and expressed readiness to partner with initiatives that bring hope, relief and opportunities to communities across the state.
