
Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Rt. Hon. Shehu Usman Bawa (ABG), over the weekend paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), reaffirming his commitment to peaceful elections and stronger collaboration with security agencies.
The visit, which took place at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Kaduna, was aimed at fostering cordial relations between political stakeholders and security institutions as preparations gather momentum for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Speaking during the visit, Shehu ABG praised the NSCDC for its unwavering dedication to protecting lives, safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, and maintaining law and order across Kaduna State despite prevailing security challenges.
The PDP governorship candidate particularly commended the officers and men of the Corps for their professionalism, discipline and sacrifices in ensuring the safety of residents, describing their contributions to peace and stability as invaluable.
He stressed that security agencies remain indispensable to the success of Nigeria’s democracy, noting that credible elections can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, fairness and public confidence.
Shehu ABG further pledged his support for the efforts of the NSCDC and other security agencies in ensuring that the forthcoming elections are conducted peacefully, urging all political actors and their supporters to shun violence and embrace issue-based campaigns.
Responding, the Kaduna State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Panam Musa, appreciated the PDP governorship candidate for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of respect for security institutions and their constitutional responsibilities.
The Commandant assured that the Corps would remain professional, impartial and committed to protecting all citizens without discrimination, irrespective of political affiliation or status.
He also reaffirmed the NSCDC’s readiness to collaborate with other security agencies to guarantee the security of lives and property before, during and after the elections, while ensuring a peaceful environment for the democratic process.
The visit ended with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to sustaining peace, strengthening cooperation between political leaders and security agencies, and promoting democratic values capable of guaranteeing free, fair and credible elections in Kaduna State.
