Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, 2025, a work-free day in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London.
Governor Dikko Radda gave the directive to enable workers and residents to join the nation in mourning the loss and offering prayers for the late leader.
Tribute to a great leader
Governor Radda described the late President Buhari as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder statesman whose life was dedicated to the service of Nigeria”.
He expressed profound condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and the entire nation, praying that Almighty Allah grants mercy to his soul, forgives his shortcomings, and rewards his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus.
The declaration was made in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Faskari, and issued by his Director of Press, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu-Yar’adua.
The statement noted that details regarding the burial arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course.
The people of Katsina State will observe the work-free day to pay their respects to the late President, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and returned as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
The declaration is a testament to Buhari’s enduring legacy and the impact he had on the nation.
