
Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, late Muhammad Usman Zuru
Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died.
Zuru reportedly passed away on Monday night at a hospital in Egypt, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Sources close to the Kebbi State Government confirmed the development, though details regarding the nature of his illness were not made public.
Until his death, the late lawmaker represented Zuru Constituency in the state assembly and was widely regarded as a key figure in the legislature, playing a significant role in the state’s lawmaking and governance processes.
Confirming the incident, an aide to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, described the development as shocking and said more information would be released in due course.
“We are still gathering full details surrounding his passing.
“The government will make an official statement and announce burial arrangements in consultation with the family,” Zuru stated.
Further announcements regarding funeral arrangements are expected from the state government and the family in the coming hours.
The death of the Speaker is expected to create a significant vacuum in the Kebbi State legislature, given his influence and leadership within the assembly.
