The arrested suspects
Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits in intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks in the Soda Forest axis and adjoining border communities of Bagudo Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, revealed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
SP Usman said the suspects were arrested in separate operations along the Illo–Lolo Road and the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis following intensified security operations against banditry in the area.
According to him, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were allegedly involved in providing logistics support to criminal elements operating in forest hideouts.
He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects’ possible involvement in recent security breaches, including the attack that resulted in the killing of three Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry.
CP Hadejia reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining operations against criminal elements across the state.
