Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has promised to donate free land, uniform and other demand of the Scout Association of Nigeria to encourage volunteers to render effective humanitarian services.
Dr. Agbu made the pledge at 2023 National Annual General Meeting of scouting held in Jalingo, Taraba State over the weekend.
The governor, who was represented by the Commander, Marshall Taraba State (CP) Agyole Abeh (Rtd), stressed that Dr. Agbu Kefas led administration has plans for youths upliftment particularly for volunteer organizations.
He expressed his gratitude to the Scout Association of Nigeria for nurturing young minds, discipline and commitment to render freewill services to communities and also providing excellence leadership for society growth.
In his speech, the Chief Commissioner, Scout Association of Nigeria, Mr. Dave Awunah applauded the governor for providing a conducive atmosphere for hosting their Annual General Meeting in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Mr. Awunah said the reason for organizing the event was to perform the governor’s investiture as the Patron of Scout Association of Nigeria Taraba State Chapter.
He said requesting for farm land is not only to boost food security but to add to the GDP of the state economy.
He further listed other demands of the association to include – a compulsory participation of scout activities both in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
Other request include the provision of office for scouting activities, camp land and assist the association with vehicles for caring out the activities of scouting in Taraba state, among others.
Meanwhile, The National Board Chairman, Scout Association of Nigeria, HRH Justice Emmanuel Dodo, Chief of Ichen of Baissa Chiefdom, Taraba State, expressed satisfaction over the turnout of members for the AGM.
He commended the governor for giving them the opportunity to host Scouting Annual General Meeting in Taraba State.
