Over 1,190 widows across Shendam, Pankshin, and Kanke Local Government Areas of Plateau State received rice grains as New Year gifts from Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, the founder of Kefiano Global Foundation.
The gesture, carried out on Tuesday, was aimed at alleviating hunger among the underprivileged.
The distribution commenced in Pankshin, where 350 widows received rice. In Kanke, another 400 beneficiaries were reached, while 440 widows in Shendam were also provided with the palliatives.
Speaking at each distribution point, Chief Kefas emphasized the humanitarian intent of the initiative, stressing that it was neither politically motivated nor influenced by religious considerations.
“This is my way of alleviating the prevailing suffering caused by hunger. Although I cultivated 130 hectares of rice this year, the yield was not sufficient to meet the demand. I had to purchase additional rice from other farmers to make this possible,” he said.
He reassured those who could not receive the palliatives to remain patient, adding that the foundation would continue its outreach efforts.
During a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ngolong Ngas, His Majesty Nde Jika Golit, in Pankshin, Chief Kefas and his team sought royal blessings for their endeavors.
The traditional ruler commended his efforts, stating, “Chief Kefas has demonstrated a commendable sense of responsibility by coming to the aid of the needy among my subjects. His actions are truly worthy of emulation.”
The beneficiaries, filled with gratitude, offered prayers for Chief Kefas. They expressed their appreciation for the initiative and wished him continued success to extend his philanthropic activities to more individuals in need.
