
FA Cup quarter-final draw has produced a blockbuster fixture as Manchester City prepare to take on fierce rivals Liverpool F.C., while Arsenal F.C. will travel to face Southampton F.C..
Monday’s draw for the last eight of the competition also handed Chelsea F.C. a favourable home fixture against League One side Port Vale F.C., who stunned Sunderland A.F.C. with a 1–0 victory in the fifth round on Sunday.
In the remaining tie, either West Ham United F.C. or Brentford F.C., who meet on Monday, will host Leeds United F.C. for a place in the semi-finals.
Man City vs Liverpool Headlines the Round
The most eye-catching fixture of the quarter-finals will see City face Liverpool in what promises to be a thrilling contest between two of England’s top clubs.
City, managed by Pep Guardiola, have already defeated Liverpool twice this season.
The champions secured a convincing 3–0 win in Manchester in November before edging a 2–1 victory at Anfield in February.
This will be the clubs’ first FA Cup meeting since their dramatic 2022 semi-final encounter, when Liverpool claimed a 3–2 win on their way to lifting the trophy.
Liverpool, who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. 3–1 in the round of 16, have won the FA Cup eight times, most recently in 2022.
Manchester City, seven-time winners, last lifted the trophy in 2023 after progressing past Newcastle United F.C. with a 3–1 victory in the fifth round.
Arsenal Travel to Southampton
Premier League leaders Arsenal secured their place in the quarter-finals after a 2–1 win away at Mansfield Town F.C..
The side coached by Mikel Arteta will now face Southampton, who caused a surprise in the previous round by defeating Fulham F.C. 1–0.
Southampton, currently pushing for a Championship play-off place, will hope to continue their impressive FA Cup run when they host the Gunners.
