Lionel Messi is not facing any suspension.
That became clear after Major League Soccer reviewed the video of him walking behind match officials following Inter Miami’s 3-0 defeat to Los Angeles FC.
The footage showed Messi heading through a doorway in the tunnel area shortly after the final whistle. It caused debate online, with some suggesting he could be punished.
But according to Reuters, MLS found no violation. The league said the area Messi walked into was not restricted and was not the referees’ dressing room.
That ended the matter.
It had been a frustrating night for Inter Miami against Los Angeles FC, and emotions were still high when the incident happened.
However, the review concluded there was nothing in his actions that warranted disciplinary steps.
