Minister commissions road, drainage system, solar energy street light projects in Maiduguri

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Dr. Mohammed Abubakar has commissioned roads, drainages network as well as solar energy street light projects in Maiduguri city, the Borno State’s capital.

The minister, who was epresented by the North East Zonal Director of FMARD, Alhaji Umaru Yusuf Mohammed, told members of the communities that the projects were meant to improve their living condition and boost their socio economic activities.

He equally enjoined the communities to safeguard and protect the projects to ensure the sustainability of the projects for their own benefits.

The projects commissioned include – 1 kilometer concrete pave/interlocking road at Gwange I Ward , 0.65 kilometer Asphaltic road, 1000 meters drainage system and 30 meters retaining wall at Gwange I Ward as well as 90 units of 60 Watts all in one solar energy street light at Kasuwan Shani area of Maiduguri .

In his remark, the State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Borno State, Alhaji Bukar Musa, urged the communities to imbibe the spirit of maintenance culture and be grateful to the present administration.

The community leaders and other stakeholders of Gwange I and Kasuwan Shani area expressed their appreciation for identifying and addressing their needs, while commending the Federal Government for its support and assistance to the community.

Highlights of the events include – cutting of tapes to commission the projects, group photographs and conducting round the projects by the Zonal Director and other dignitaries .
