
Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, inspecting ongoing project executed by NEDC in Borno

Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has inspected major projects executed and ongoing by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Borno State.
The Minister commended the commission’s Governing Board and management staff for their commitment and dedication to executing people-oriented infrastructural projects that have a direct impact on the lives of people affected by insurgency and flood disasters.
The projects inspected by the Minister include the construction of 1,000 housing units at Ngwom, a 47 km road network and drainage system connecting rural communities, and the NEDC Borno State Office and Regional Head Office.
The Minister noted that these projects are designed to stimulate economic growth, improve access and connectivity, and promote environmentally sustainable infrastructure in the region.

The Minister assured the NEDC of the Federal Ministry of Regional Development’s continued support, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to rehabilitating and reconstructing the North East region.
He emphasized that the projects are in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at rebuilding and revitalizing the region.
During the inspection, the Minister visited the ongoing construction of the NEDC’s 8-storey administrative complex and an innovative electric mobility charging station (solar recharge center) for tricycles and town service vehicles.
He noted that these projects would enhance institutional capacity and promote environmentally sustainable infrastructure.
The Minister praised the Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, and his team for their impressive execution of projects that have a direct impact on the lives of people in the region.
He assured that the Federal Ministry of Regional Development would continue to support the NEDC in its efforts to promote lasting peace and development in the North East region and Nigeria at large.
