National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called on all parties involved to adhere strictly to the schedules set by Saudi authorities for the 2026 Hajj operations, emphasizing that there will be no extensions for visa processing, payments, or contractual agreements.
In a statement released by NAHCON’s Principal Information Officer, Malam Shafii Mohammed, in Abuja, the Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, stressed the importance of early preparations during a Post-Hajj Stakeholders’ meeting with Licensed Tour Operator Companies.
Elegushi warned that the Saudi Hajj calendar is non-negotiable, stating, “The deadlines set by the Saudis are final. Unlike in the past, no extensions will be granted for visa processing. If the portal closes, it stays closed.”
He referenced the 2025 Hajj, where some pilgrims missed out due to unmet deadlines, urging stakeholders to avoid similar issues in 2026.
Reflecting on challenges faced during Arafat 2025, Elegushi described the experience as a critical lesson, encouraging better planning and faster adaptation to the updated Saudi system.
NAHCON’s Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management, and Finance, Prince Aliu AbdulRazaq, also addressed the meeting, discussing refunds, pending issues, and payment processes.
He reiterated the need for timely fulfillment of all financial obligations, as Saudi authorities will not allow extensions for contracts or visa processing in 2026.
Prof. Abdullahi Usman, NAHCON’s Chairman/CEO, praised state pilgrims’ welfare boards, private tour operators, and service providers for their role in the success of the 2025 Hajj.
He highlighted the Federal Government’s support, which ensured a dignified and comfortable pilgrimage for Nigerians. Usman emphasized NAHCON’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and collaboration while expecting full compliance from stakeholders to enhance service delivery and align with global standards.
Additionally, Prof. Abubakar Yagawal, Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services, commended tour operators for their performance in 2025 and urged continued cooperation. He encouraged intending pilgrims to make early payments and preparations to ensure a smoother 2026 Hajj experience.
