The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it is set to make laws to give legal backing to the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board respectively.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau announced this during the House proceedings in Lafia, Monday.
“A Bill for a Law to establish Nasarawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board and other matters connected thereto” passed first reading.
“A Bill for a Law to Establish Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and other matters connected thereto passed first reading.
The Speaker fixed 5th August 2024 for second reading of the Christian Pilgrims Board Bill and 6th August 2024 for Muslim Pilgrims Board Bill.
The two bills are private member bills both sponsored by Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu Nana, member Representing keffi West constituency and Chairman House Committee on Pilgrims.
In another development, the House Committee on Public Complaint and Petition headed by Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba has submitted its report on stepping down screening of nominee from Nassarawa Eggon Muktar Angbashim Mamman as NASIEC member.
Submitting the report, Chairman of the committee said the petitioners failed to appear before the committee on invitation and did not attached any document or evidence on age falsification against the nominee and by that their petition stands null and void.
“Therefore, it is null and void, and lacks in merit and in the interest of fairness, just and equity, the house should proceed and screen the nominee and if possible confirm him ” he said.
