
Vice Chancellor of NSUK, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed

The Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), is set to graduate a total of 7,661 worthy graduands at its 7th convocation coming up this Saturday.
Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, Vice Chancellor of the University, disclosed this during a pre-convocation press conference at the old senate chamber in NSUK on Tuesday.
According to Prof Mohammed, 5,984 students out these numbers are undergraduates, while 1,677 are of the post graduate programs.
He disclosed that 33 students bagged first class, 1,598 bagged second class upper, 3,906 had second class lower and 447 bagged third class.
In addition, he said of the graduands, 134 are PhD holders, 633 bagged academic masters, 357 bagged professional masters, while 553 are bagged postgraduate diploma.
He said since after the last convocation, the institution had made significant progress in the areas of establishing two faculties namely Engineering with three departments and College of Medicine, also with three programs.
Prof. Mohammed, further disclosed that the university in collaboration with National University Commission (NUC), had commenced Trans-Natural Education programs.
Equally, he said arrangements are on top gear to commence Open and Distance E-learning (ODeL), in the next academic session.
Prof Mohammed, said during the period under review, the university has attracted USD 5000 and another 7000 in 2022 and 2023 respectively for climate curriculum.
He said the university attracted TETFund national research fund, completed, furnished a befitting senate building, constructed three central engineering workshops in Lafia and in Gudi campuses.
In addition, he said TETFUND, had built the College of Medicine, construction of Laboratory Complex and the fencing of Gudi and Lafia campuses of NSUK by the state government.
The VC further disclosed that under his stewardship, NSUK had access N250 million naira grant from Abdul Samad Rabiu (ASR) initiative and another N70 million from Alhaji Aliyu Balarabe Abdulrazak for the construction of a 2000 multi-purpose hall.
In an effort to enhance research excellence in NSUK, he said initiatives are underway to establish an enterprise, Sidi Bage centre for law enforcement and administration.
Others are establishment of Usman Jibrin institute of environment, Amina Mohammed centre for climate change, establishment of centre for disaster risk management and others.
He equally gave kudos to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NCSDC), for donating an ambulance, a Hilux and arms squad to help in curbing security challenges in NSUK.
He appreciated the visitor to the university, Gov Abdullahi Sule and all the former governors for their landmark achievements in the university.
