Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set up a fact-finding committee to investigate the country’s poor run in international competitions, with particular focus on the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The NFF announced this in a statement issued on Friday via its verified X handle.
Recalled that the Super Falcons, 10-time Women’s AFCON champions and holders, were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the ongoing tournament in Morocco before losing 1-2 to South Africa in the playoff for a place in the Inter-Confederations Playoffs.
The failure means Nigeria will miss the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, ending the Super Falcons’ ever-present record at the tournament since its inaugural edition in 1991.
The NFF said Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, will chair the committee, with Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie, Mutiu Adepoju and Dr Alex Mana as members. Mr. Nasiru Jibril is the secretary.
It added that the committee will investigate the setbacks and make recommendations
