Global Energy Transition for People and Planet has unveiled platform aimed at promoting green environment and reducing carbon emissions through daily actions.
The platform is a land initiative towards empowering Nigerians taking responsibility for climate action.
The group said collaborative efforts from strategic stakeholders across the country would help in meeting up with the issues related with climate change.
Speaking at the launch on Wednesday in Abuja, president of the Energy Transition, Johnson Okafor said the initiative is aimed at promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy towards net zero in 2030.
He said the idea will educate people at all levels on how to evolve best measures that will drive energy efficiency.
He said the private driven scheme, ‘your path to net – zero’ is a reward based climate action platform that supports individuals, families, corporates, and schools with tools and rewards.
Okafor stated that the idea would help tracks people actions and estimates carbon offset, with top performers becoming eligible for carbon credit benefits and further funding support.

“Your path to net zero, is a reward based climate action platform. It is a national climate action platform that empowers Nigerians to reduce carbon emissions through daily actions.
“The idea supports individuals, families, corporates, and schools with tools and rewards to promote energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption and behavioural change towards net -zero by 2030.
“It will help each activity you complete has a verified co2 reduction value.
“The platform tracks your actions and estimates carbon offset. Top performers become eligible for carbon credit benefits and further funding support”.
Okafor, therefore urged individuals and organisations to key into the free emissions and green environment drive for a better society.
On the part of government, the federal ministry of environment represented by one of staff, said the ministry is going to collaborate with the network zero to achieve the emissions free society.
A participant from Ristech limited, Moses Ochai Joseph noted that the world is moving towards the direction of the organizer of the initiative and that the good thing was that all the stakeholders involved were all present.
“The government which are the regulator, the private sector and the end users. Everybody putting effort together, it is achievable. Also, part of what we were told from the beginning was that, this initiative comes with reward for the participants. I like that part because it may push those that are inclined and those not inclined to push the activities of Net-Zero”, he said.
