Former Nigerian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Alhaji Yerima Abdullahi

A Former Nigerian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Alhaji Yerima Abdullahi, has said that Nigeria’s existence as one united country is a divine arrangement and not a mistake.

Abdullahi, an elder statesman, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Gombe.

”The strength of Nigeria is in its oneness and togetherness. Though there are threats, Nigeria will survive and there are greater hopes that the country will continue to get better.

”Nigeria is destined to be great because the resources needed for such greatness has been provided by God. Unity and togetherness as a people is assured. We can build a great nation,’’ he said.

He said that the beauty of Nigeria, was the different tribes, languages and religions working together trying to build a great country.

“God has brought us together. Nigeria is great with great potentials. I am totally married to the idea of a united Nigeria because our future in both human and material resources will be greater,’’ he said.

He said that Nigeria has a lot to celebrate on its 61st anniversary as one united nation, considering the road from independence has been challenging.

Abdullahi advised the youth to ensure that they take advantage of the ongoing voter’s registration to register to qualify to vote.

He stressed that it was only through voting that young people can determine their future.

”If you don’t have your Permanent Voters Card, don’t complain about governance.’’ (NAN)
