North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reaffirmed his country’s support for Russia in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
According to state news agency KCNA, Kim met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the port city of Wonsan on Saturday.
During their meeting, Kim expressed Pyongyang’s unconditional support for Russia’s actions in Ukraine, stating that both nations share the same views on strategic issues.
Kim also encouraged Russia’s efforts to address the root cause of the Ukrainian crisis.
The show of support comes after Moscow and Pyongyang signed a strategic partnership in 2024, which includes provisions for military assistance in the event of an attack on either country.
North Korea has been supplying weapons and soldiers to Russia, with estimates suggesting around 14,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed to the Kursk region to aid Russian efforts.
Ukraine has been fighting against Russia’s full-scale invasion since February 2022.
