National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has led Nigeria’s delegation to the United States Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting in Washington, D.C.
The meeting focuses on counterterrorism cooperation, progress made so far and the next steps in strengthening security collaboration between both countries. A bilateral defence meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday.
The working group was established following the United States’ designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC).
Other members of the Nigerian delegation include:
- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu
- Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa
- Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele
- Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo
- Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi
- Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye
- Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede
- Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Jimoh Ibrahim
The United States delegation is led by Allison Hooker, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.
The meeting is a significant step in strengthening Nigeria US security and defence cooperation.
