NSCDC arrests 3 suspected drug dealers in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says its operatives have arrested three suspected drug dealers in Nasarawa State.

The the state command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Jerry Victor, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Lafia.

DSC Victor said the suspects were also involved in causing mayhem in communities of Dadin Kowa, Kurkyo Road and GSS Bukan Sidi in Lafia, all in the state capital.

He identified the suspects as Ovey Stephen, 24, Yusuf Auwal, 21, and Musa Ismaila, 17 years old respectively.

The suspects according to him, were nabbed in Dadin Kowa area of Lafia, the state capital while on their way to sell the drugs and other illicit substances.

He said the leader of the group, Ovey Stephen, who hailed from Nasarawa Eggon LGA of the state but resides in Bukan Sidi, Lafia, confessed to the crime and pleaded for mercy.

The NSCDC PRO explained that the arrest of all the suspects was made possible by an intel provided by the members of the public, following increase in crimes and criminality in the areas.

“The suspects and their gang members have been terrorizing communities around Dadin Kowa, Kurkyo Road and GSS Bukan Sidi areas for quite some time now, this prompted the State Commandant to swiftly place an intelligence around the aforementioned areas for real-time information gathering.”

“The suspects have been helpful, and are very cooperative in dishing out more information to our officers, after investigation is concluded they will be charge to court of competent jurisdiction for proper prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others” he said.

Items recovered from the suspects included over seven bundles of wrapped Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp), nine sticks of golden seal cigarettes, one hand made shisha pot, made with a rubber container.

Others are one sharp single edge knife, three cigar lighter, one dark eye glass and unidentified drugs and substances.
