Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has joined his ancestors at the age of 90.
The Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, confirmed the news of the royal father’s demise, saying, “Baba joined his ancestors early Monday.”
According to reports, the traditional ruler celebrated his 90th birthday just two days before his demise.
Born on July 5, 1935, Olakulehin ascended the throne on July 12, 2024, following his coronation by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, serving as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Osi Olubadan, former governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, is next in line to the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The family of the late Olubadan is currently working on an official statement, which would be released soon.
As news of the Olubadan’s demise spreads, tributes are expected to pour in from various quarters, mourning the loss of the revered traditional ruler.
The Olubadan’s family members and friends have begun arriving at his private residence, paying their last respects.
