
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the Week 5 update on the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), revealing that Osun, Borno, and Lagos States are currently leading in online pre-registration figures.
According to data shared by INEC via its social media platforms on Tuesday, the number of online pre-registrations has reached 5,385,060, while completed physical registrations stand at 764,695 as of September 21.
Breaking down the figures, INEC disclosed that among the online registrants:
2,799,844 are female,
2,585,216 are male,
3,604,668 fall within the youth demographic (ages 18–34),
1,354,274 are students,
and 114,713 are Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs).
For the physical registration completed so far, the statistics show:
418,750 female registrants,
345,945 male registrants,
565,927 youths aged 18–34,
279,172 students,
and 10,838 PWDs.
INEC stated:
> “For the physical registration with 764,695 as the total number of completed registration as at the end of Week 4, the data shows that 418,750 of the figures are female, while 345,945 are male. Also 565,927 of the figures are youth between age 18 and 34, while students are 279,172 and PWD are 10,838.”
In the state-by-state breakdown of online pre-registration, Osun leads with 578,904 registrants, accounting for 10.75% of the total. Borno follows closely with 561,666 (10.43%), and Lagos ranks third with 530,180 (9.85%).
At the lower end of the chart, Enugu recorded the fewest online pre-registrations with only 2,931 (0.05%), followed by Abia with 4,608 (0.09%) and Edo with 9,670 (0.18%).
The Continuous Voter Registration exercise is part of INEC’s effort to expand voter access and update the national voters register ahead of upcoming elections.
