Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to participate in the grand finale of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship campaign ahead of Saturday’s election.
Atiku, who disclosed his arrival in a post on his official X account, said he was accompanied by a delegation of political associates to show support for the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, popularly known as Iwaloye.
The former presidential candidate said the visit underscored the party’s determination to mobilise support for its candidate as the governorship race enters its final stretch.
“I have arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, alongside a delegation of political associates, to stand with our governorship candidate, Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam (Iwaloye), and our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) @ADCNig, at the grand finale of our campaign ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.”
Atiku said the campaign rally was aimed at making a final appeal to the electorate to vote for the ADC, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to provide effective leadership for the state.
“We are here to rally support for our candidate and make a final appeal to the people of Osun State to entrust the ADC with the responsibility of delivering purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for all.”
The grand finale campaign comes as political parties intensify last-minute efforts to convince voters ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with the ADC seeking to secure victory through its candidate, Dr. Salaam.
The Osun governorship poll is expected to be keenly contested, with parties making final outreach efforts across the state before campaigning officially comes to a close.
