Oyo State Government has demolished a building allegedly used as a hideout by the kidnappers of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.
Authorities said the action underscores the state’s firm resolve to combat criminal activities and deny criminals safe havens within its territory.
The demolition exercise was carried out in the early hours of Monday, less than 48 hours after security operatives secured the release of the victims. The operation was conducted by the Oyo State Ministry of Lands and Housing in collaboration with security agencies following intelligence reports that connected the property to the gang responsible for the abduction.
Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped on June 3 along the Elewura area of Ring Road in Ibadan while she was taking the children to school.
The victims regained their freedom after a coordinated rescue mission led by the Nigeria Police Force. The operation reportedly resulted in the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers, while several other suspects were taken into custody.
Government officials disclosed that investigations carried out after the rescue led security agencies to the demolished building, which was allegedly used by the kidnappers to hold the victims during their captivity.
The government maintained that the demolition sends a strong message to criminal elements that Oyo State will not tolerate activities that threaten the safety and security of the people.
