A faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has revealed plans to join forces with another party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
The faction’s leader, Alh. Mustapha Inuwa, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and governorship aspirant, made the disclosure during a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday.
Inuwa stated that the coalition is working with national heavyweights to form a solid, viable, and dependable platform capable of challenging the APC.
“The coalition is working nationally with political heavyweights to form a solid, viable, and dependable platform capable of challenging the APC,” he said.
Decision on New Platform Soon
Inuwa revealed that a decision on the new platform will be finalized by the end of June by the movement’s leadership. “God willing, a decision on the new platform will be finalised by the end of June by the movement’s leadership,” he added.
Inuwa urged loyal supporters to stay calm, continue backing the group, and pray for its success.
“We urge our loyal supporters to stay calm, continue backing the group, and pray for its success and the progress of Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
Critique of APC and Local Elections
Inuwa criticized the recent local elections in Katsina, claiming that forms were only issued to government-approved candidates.
“Our major concern remains the electorate, who are with us. We are with them. God willing, we will succeed,” he said, expressing confidence in the group’s chances.
The PDP faction leader extended an open invitation to progressive-minded individuals to join the movement.
“We call on all progressive-minded individuals, regardless of political affiliation, to join the movement in pursuit of their shared vision and goal,” he said.
