By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

The Chairman of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Cross River Chapter, Professor James Ekpoke, has debunked insinuation created by the Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) that Mr. Peter Obi represent an ethnic and religious agenda.

Prof. Ekpoke, who is the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar disclosed this while addressing journalist at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center on Wednesday.

He maintained that Peter Obi is the only governor in Nigeria that left money in government coffers while others left huge debt

According to Ekpoke, ” I have seen something in this man, he is the only man that is taking Nigeria from consumption economy to production”.

“I have studied him right from when he was the governor of Anambra and his antecedent is clear, it is difficult for you to see a governor who left money in government coffers like he did.

“Many people go into office to accumulate wealth for themselves but Obi left money for the next governor for that, I think he is a saviour,” he said.

On the issue of insecurity in the nation, the professor said poverty and unemployment were the driving forces, adding that the nation needed to concentrate on production through which its teeming youths would be employed.

He also added that as contained in the plan of the LP presidential candidate, the nation needs to employ technology to check the malaise of insecurity after ensuring that poverty and unemployment have been reduced.

Also speaking, the state Party Chairman and governorship candidate, Ambassador Ogar Osim said: “For us in Labour Party, campaigning for Peter Obi and his Deputy, Amed Datti is like a walk through the park because his Character, Competency, Capacity and records are well known to both citizens and non-citizens of the Country.

“Great politicians, spiritual leaders, traditional rulers, activists, celebrities, business moguls, academics dons, etc. within the country and beyond are saying this is the last chance for Nigeria to get it right with Peter Obi. It is important to state that Peter Obi presidential ambition is beyond ordinary politics. It is a divine movement rooted in the plans of the Almighty God for Nigeria.

“There is no amount of manipulation by the opposition that will work because Peter Obi represents the spirit of freedom, the spirit of our heroes who labored and sacrificed for the greatness of our beloved Country and according to the Nigerian National anthem, ‘the labour of our heroes past shall not be in vain.

Therefore, we urge you gentlemen of the Press, to join us in sensitizing Nigerians to get their PVCs and vote Labour Party at the poll on 25th February, 2023 exactly 30 days from now and 11th March, 2023 so that we can all enjoy natural resources and blessings embedded in our great Country by the Almighty God.
