
Weapons recovered from the bandits in Kaduna
Kaduna State Police Command has dislodged several bandits’ camps and arrested 17 suspected criminals during a four-day clearance operation across parts of the state.
The operation, conducted between February 10 and 13, 2026, targeted identified criminal hideouts in Kajuru, Tafa, Igabi and Kauru Local Government Areas.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the coordinated raids led to fierce gun battles, during which several bandits were neutralised, while others fled with varying degrees of injuries.
The command said three AK-47 rifles, seven locally fabricated firearms and one English-made pistol were recovered during the operation. A large quantity of suspected hard drugs was also seized.
Police further disclosed that some of those arrested sustained bullet wounds, while others are believed to be informants and drug suppliers linked to banditry networks in the affected areas.
The suspects were identified as Ahamdu Bala, Abdullahi Alh. Fulani, Ado Bayero Reku, Samaila Bala, Nasiru Rabiu, Ibrahim Bello, Jafar Adamu, Nura Abdullahi, Adamu Alh. Raini, Adamu Haruna, Ado Babwuro, Shuaibu Sa’idu, Isiya Bammi (alias Kire), Kabiru Adamu, Habibu Rabiu, Suleiman Adam and Abubakar Idris.
The command said investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider criminal network, apprehend fleeing suspects and ensure diligent prosecution of those arrested.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reassured residents that intelligence-led operations would be sustained in identified flashpoints to curb banditry, illegal arms proliferation and related crimes.
He added that the command would continue to collaborate with the military, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to enhance safety across Kaduna State.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible and timely information.
