
The paraded suspects

Borno State Police Command has paraded no fewer than 110 suspects arrested for various criminal cases across the state from January till May, 2023.
Briefing journalists at the police Headquarters Maiduguri, The Commissioner of Police, CP Abdu Umar said the command in carrying out its primary mandate to protect lives and properties of the citizenry has been relentless in its standard operational procedures and had recorded successes.
According to him, the police have arrested various culprits who engaged in rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, vandalism, culpable homicide, drug dealings,and theft among others.

He added that the crimes were tackled and overcome due to the review of Police operational strategies, acquisition of new specialize operational assets, enhanced intelligence capacity, strong synergy between the police, military and other sister security agencies .

“The command has also applied both kinetic and non kinetic approaches in addressing the problems as laid down by the IGP Alkali Usman Baba as part of police vision and mission couple with commitment, selfless and dedication to duty”.

“For the record, from January to date this year, a total of Cases 70 abd 110 suspects were nabbed which include :1. Kidnapping:- five (6) suspects , 2. Rape:- Six (6) suspects 3. Unnatural Offence:- One (1) suspects 4. Criminal Conspiracy and Theft:- (29) suspects 5. Armed Robbery:- (5) suspects . 6. Criminal Conspiracy and Culpable Homicide:- (15) suspects 7. Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery, Causing Grievous Hurt and Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Firearms (1) suspects 8. Criminal Conspiracy, Trespass, Theft Causing Grievous Hurt (2) suspects 9. Act of Terrorism (1) suspect and 10. Being in Possession of leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp (5) suspects”, he said.
He further said that some of the suspects are presently undergoing thorough interrogation by the investigation units of the command while others have already confessed to committed their offences and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
