Nasarawa State Police Command has announced traffic diversions and movement restrictions in Lafia, the state capital, due to President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled official visit.
According to SP Rahman Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the restrictions will be in place from 6:00pm on Tuesday, June 24, to 6:00am on Wednesday, June 25.
Nansel explained that vehicles coming into Lafia from Akwanga will be diverted at Mechanic Village, Azuba, to pass through the bypass, Akurba, Mararaba Akunza, and connect to Makurdi Road.
Vehicles from Makurdi will be diverted at Bukan Kwato-Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, has assured the public that adequate security measures have been deployed along alternative routes.
“We regret any inconveniences this may cause and appreciate the support of residents and motorists during this period,” Nansel said.
The police appeal to the public to cooperate with them to ensure a safe and successful presidential visit.
