Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development Maiduguri has organized a one day training workshop on transitional justice, reconciliation and reintegration for Mafa Community stakeholders on Thursday at Hajja Manga Memorial Hall Giwa Barrack Area Maiduguri.
The facilitator of the training, Dr. Lawan Balami, Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant of Allamin Foundation and Comrade Zanna Shettima, the former State Chairman of NLC and NANHWUN, Borno State, who coordinated and anchored the training workshop, said the impaof transitional justice, reconciliation and reintegration in conflict environment can never be over emphasized due to their roles and effects on the citizens.
Dr. Balami explained the framework for transitional justice and stressed the need for transparency by the members of the commission or tribunal set up by the government which require all inclusive participation.
He, however, reiterated the importance of transitional justice and reconciliation among individuals, groups and communities in the society as yardstick for peaceful co-existence and development.
On his part, Comrade Zanna Shettima, discussed the effects and significance of reconciliation, peaceful co-existence, and the consequential illnesses associated with phycological trauma.
Shettima, however, emphasized on the role of the government and non governmental organization’s in the consolidation and sustainability of peace and development at all the levels of the society, especially in the post insurgency era.
They stressed for the need for the community stakeholders to endeavour to establish sectoral community leaders that will coordinate and facilitate the activities of the communities towards reconciliation, peace building and reintegration of repentant insurgents.
He further, appreciated the government, individuals, organizational and corporate participation in the entire transitional justice and reconciliation implementation process.
