
A cross section of the beneficiaries

The wife of the President and the founder of Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed food items worth millions of naira to over 600 vulnerable persons and those with disabilities in Nasarawa State.
The items were distributed on Tuesday, on her behalf by the wife of Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, at a brief occasion held at Government House, Lafia.
Hajiya Shettima, stated that the gesture was motivated by the concern of the First Lady for the plights of the needy and persons with disabilities.
“The food outreach scheme is specially designed to provide support to the underprivileged inline with the resolve of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, to leave no one behind in ensuring food security and sufficiency in the country”
“Under this scheme, a trailer load of assorted food items is being donated to the state government for onward distribution to identified groups courtesy of a notable and public spirited industry that has made the commitment to make the food items available on a monthly basis” she said.
She announced that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in Collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative, have concluded plans to donate a truck load of fertilizer and bags of rice to each states starting with Nasarawa State.
According to her, the Renewed Hope Initiative Governing Council, has also graciously approved a grant of N50,000 to 1,000 women in each states as part of their women economic empowerment programme.
The First Lady, who urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the food items, expressed optimism that the interventions would go a long way in assisting the needy in the society.
Hajiya Shettima, was accompanied to the state by the wives of the Senate President, the Speaker, Chief of Staff, wife of Kogi State Governor and many others.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, of Nasarawa State, represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, appreciated the First Lady’s motherly disposition towards the needy and vulnerable in the state and the country at large.
In their good will messages at the occasion, the first lady of Nasarawa State and wife of the Governor, Hajiya Sulifat Abdullahi Sule, Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd), APC Chairman in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, Commissioner for women affairs, Aisha Rufai and the head service, Barr. Abigail Waya, all thanked the wife of the President, for bringing succour to the needy in the state.
So far, the Federal Capital Territory, Kano and Nasarawa States, have benefited from the scheme under the Social Investment Program of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
