Chief Jude Opara, a political affairs analyst says the establishment of South East Development Commission (SEDC) is solution to plethora of agitations in that part of the country.
Opara said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for giving the South East the platform to accelerate development in the zone many years after the civil war.
“Tinubu believes in building the nation on the fulcrum of fairness, equity, and unity; hence, he is committed to ensuring equitable development, inclusive governance.
“I must thank President Tinubu for this because if you check, he is the only person that has given the Igbo the political backup for development,” he said.
The political affairs analyst, who reiterated the appreciation of the South East for the creation of SEDC, commended Sen. Samuel Anyanwu for sponsoring the Bill in the 8th Assembly.
He urged the people of South East to utilise the opportunity offered by the commission to rehabilitate the area.
NAN reports that the South East Development Commission (SEDC) was established to ensure the reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads, houses, and other infrastructure damage suffered by the zone during and after the civil war.
It was also meant to tackle ecological problems, and related environmental or developmental challenges in Southeast states. (NAN)
