As part of activities marking Muharram (the new year of 1445 AH Islamic calendar), First Aid members of Shababul Faida Jamiyyatu Ansarudden Attijaniyya Nigeria have procured and donated free drugs and consumable items to the less privileged and nursing mothers at Herwa Clinic and State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri.
Receiving the items at the State Specialist hospital Maiduguri, the Chief Medical.Director (CMD), Dr. Shehu Mohammed said:
“This is a rare opportunity that will be of great help and assistance to the children and nursing mothers, especially, the weak or poor who can not afford prescribed drugs or are in critical situation and in need of support.
”Governor Zulum led government introduced free maternal health care which the First Lady , Dr. Palmara Babagana Zulum chairs including dialysis. We appreciate and urge individuals and organisations to support these children and nursing mothers to alleviate their sufferings. It is beneficial and rewarding. That’s why we set up a committee on free donations for it to distribute such items to right children and nursing mothers,” Mohammed said.
Dr. Mohammed added that government alone can not afford to accommodate all the medical needs of the large member of patients in the hospital, hence, the need for external supports.
He commended the organisation for their gesture and urged them to continue and maintain the spirit and never to relent on its efforts and services to humanity.
Dr. Mohammed also assured that the items will be handed over to committee for onward distribution to the children and nursing mothers free of charge in commemoration of the New Year of the Islamic Calendar Muharram 1445 AH .
Similarly, The Facility Manager , Herwa Clinic Maiduguri, Hahiya Maryam thanked the donors for such presentation and assured judicious distribution of all the drugs donated to the needy while stressing that the gesture was coming at the right time when majority of nursing mothers rarely afford the medicines prescribed for them due to economic hardships.
The items donated the clinic and hospital include 5 roll of V Ceftriaxone sodium 1g, 2 cartons of VF Metronidazole Infusion, 2 cartons of VF Dextrose Saline , 2 Cartons of IVF 5% Dextrose, 2 cartons of VF Normal Saline, 2 cartons of VF Ringer lactate, 2 cartons of VF , 1 carton of Dextrose in water, 100 PCs of Drip given set and 2 packets of IV Canullar at the State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri .
Others are: 7 tins of tabs Paracetamol 500mg, 10 Tim’s of Tabs Ferrous sulphate, 6 tins of Tabs Folic acid, 10 packets by 50 pieces, 10 tins of Tabs Maloxine and 2 cartons of Tabs Calcium laced.
