
Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal

Ahead of 2023 general elections, no fewer than 11 commissioners, the Secretary to the State Government as well as the Chief of Staff to governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal have resigned.
The resignation of the 13 cabinet members however did not come to many as a surprise. This is because, speculations had enveloped the state that those appointees will surely resigned to pursue their political ambitions.
For many pundits in Sokoto, the vacuum created by these exodus of political appointees from Tambuwal’s cabinet might signal heated politicking in the near future.
Those who resigned according to Tambuwal include, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, who was also in charge of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Other commissioners are Abdussamad Dasuki, Ministry of Finance, Hon Sagir Bafarawa , Ministry of Environment, Hon Bashir Gorau, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Hon Aminu Bala Bodinga, Lands and Housing; as well as Col Garba Moyi (rtd) Careers and Security.
Other commissioners who resigned are those of Commerce, Hon Bashir Gidado, Water Resources, Heads Gobir, Solid Minerals, Hon Abubakar Maikudi Ahmad and that of Religious Affairs, Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mallam Sa’idu Umar and Tambuwal’s Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Umar Magori are also amongst those that the governor have accepted their resignation.
