Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has called on Nigerians living abroad to remain connected to their roots and play an active role in driving economic growth and development back home.
The governor made the appeal after attending the 2026 Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference in Toronto, Canada, which was themed, “Thrive Abroad and Invest in Nigeria.”
Reflecting on the conference, Soludo described the discussions as both timely and significant, stressing that Nigerians in the diaspora have an important role to play in shaping the country’s future through investment, innovation and knowledge transfer.
“The conversations were timely and the message clear.
As Nigerians in Diaspora, we must stay rooted in our identity and values, remain connected to home, and take pride in our responsibility to contribute to a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.”
He also challenged younger Nigerians living abroad to take the lead in advancing Nigeria’s development through entrepreneurship, technology and advocacy.
“The next generation must also step forward through technology, enterprise, innovation, and advocacy.”
Speaking on his administration’s vision for Anambra State, Soludo said his participation at the conference was aimed at fostering meaningful relationships that would attract investments and unlock economic opportunities for the state.
According to him, the goal goes beyond representation, focusing instead on creating partnerships capable of delivering sustainable development and prosperity.
“For us in Anambra, this is about purpose, not just presence. We are here to connect, build genuine partnerships, attract investment, and create real opportunities. We want the diaspora to see Anambra as a place where ideas can become businesses, investment can create value, and opportunities can translate into lasting prosperity.”
The governor expressed optimism that increased engagement between Anambra and its diaspora community would further strengthen the state’s economic prospects and reaffirmed his commitment to positioning the state as a preferred destination for investment.
He concluded with a message of confidence in the state’s future, saying:
“May Anambra continue to win!”
