More than 140 stakeholders drawn from government institutions, development partners, civil society organisations, academia and state nutrition offices have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing nutrition outcomes across Nigeria through stronger collaboration and improved data-driven decision-making.
The commitment was made during the Second Quarter 2026 National Nutrition Technical Working Group (NNTWG) meeting convened by the Nutrition Department of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Held under the theme, _“Strengthening Nutrition Routine Information System,”_ the meeting focused on enhancing nutrition coordination and reinforcing the country’s routine nutrition data systems to support evidence-based planning, effective service delivery and greater accountability.
Participants stressed that reliable and high-quality nutrition data remain essential for developing sound policies, monitoring interventions and delivering impactful nutrition programmes across the country.
The stakeholders also reviewed ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the National Health Management Information System (NHMIS), including the integration of additional nutrition indicators and the nationwide rollout of revised nutrition reporting tools.
Progress was equally reported on the Nigeria Health Logistics Management Information System (NHLMIS), with 23 nutrition commodities now being tracked and 23 states already submitting live nutrition commodity data, a development expected to improve the availability and management of critical nutrition supplies.
At the end of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their resolve to deepen collaboration, strengthen routine nutrition information systems and accelerate coordinated efforts to reduce malnutrition and improve the nutritional well-being of Nigerians.
