Newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Mr. Naziru Kankorifi, has issued a strong warning to terrorists and other criminal elements to steer clear of the state.
Kankorifi delivered the warning on Wednesday while officially assuming duty at the Kogi State Police Command headquarters in Lokoja.
He succeeds Mr. Miller Dantawaye, who has been redeployed to the Federal Capital Territory Command in Abuja.
“I am not in Kogi to play but to police the state to enjoy the deserved peace and security for the attainment of the desired development,” Kankorifi declared during his address.
The new police boss emphasized that his administration would show zero tolerance for terrorism or any criminal activity that threatens the state’s peace.
“Anyone who tries to tamper with the peace and security of the state will be squarely dealt with,” he warned.
Describing Kogi as “an industrial state and a gateway between the southern and northern regions,” Kankorifi said the state must remain peaceful and secure to allow businesses to thrive and attract development.
He further assured that under his leadership, the command would maintain professionalism and intensify efforts to secure both highways and communities.
“We shall be professionally up and doing to secure the roads and the communities to give room for that growth and development in Kogi,” he added.
Kankorifi also highlighted the importance of collaboration, noting that the police would strengthen synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The CP urged residents, stakeholders, and sister security agencies to work hand in hand with the police in promoting peace and ensuring effective policing across the state.
