Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu
The Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement has dismissed recent comments by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Senator Abubakar Tutare, describing his criticism of Governor Kefas as driven by personal interests rather than concern for the people.
In a statement signed by its coordinator, Mallam Ibrahim Ardo, the group said a viral video of Tutare addressing his supporters in Jalingo, exposed what it called an outdated view of governance centred on rewarding political allies instead of delivering public service.
The movement argued that despite Tutare’s years in public office as a lawmaker, commissioner, Secretary to the State Government and senator, he had failed to demonstrate a lasting record of development that justifies his attacks on the current administration.
It maintained that the Kefas administration has continued to record progress through education reforms, payment of outstanding gratuities to retirees and the completion of abandoned projects across the state.
The group also credited the present government with improving security, noting that communities previously affected by insecurity have witnessed measurable progress.
Reacting to Tutare’s criticism, the movement said, “What Tarabans saw in that video was not leadership. It was frustration, the frustration of a career politician who has spent decades in power but struggles to point to enduring impact.”
It challenged the ADC candidate to present a practical and better development agenda instead of focusing on criticism, insisting that any governorship aspirant should offer clear solutions on security, infrastructure and governance.
The movement reaffirmed its support for Governor Agbu Kefas, insisting that his administration remains the most credible option for sustaining development and stability in Taraba State.
