Taraba NUJ Council elects new leadership, vows to maintain professional ethics

The Nigerian Union Of Journalists (NUJ) Taraba State Council has elected new leadership that will pilots the affair of the association in the next three years.

Addressing the elected executive, the National President of NUJ, Mr Chris Isigozo said journalism is build on integrity and respect , a noble profession that cannot be taking for granted.

Isigozo who was represented by the NUJ National Vice President, Mr. Zare Baba stressed that the union need members, and urged the new officials to administered their leadership in according to the NUJ constitution and never take the constitution for a joke.

He disclosed that NUJ belongs to no religion or tribe but as a union, it is open to welcome new members. He advised the new EXCO to accept more membership as they have the capacity to correct the wrongs inline with NUJ guiding principles.
Presenting his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Mr. Mathew Eliud Jen pledged to maintain the integrity of the union and encourage professionalism, support the administration of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas to strive and ensure that disunity should not be use as tool of separation among members.

Meanwhile, the elected official include: Mr. Mathew Eliud Jen, the NUJ Council Chairman and serving Director in the Ministry of Information, Taraba State, the Vice Chairman Adamu. Also from NTA Jalingo, Secretary Mr. Apolos Dennis, who is a staff of Taraba State Television (TTV).

The position of assistant secretary goes to Mr. Jethro Yerga of Worldview Magazine, Treasurer Hilda Adebayo of Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS), Financial Secretary, Mr. Syvalnus Viashima of the Sun newspapers from the correspondent chapel and Auditor General is Roland Andekin, respectively.
