Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Port Harcourt Region, has successfully commissioned a new 150 MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at its Afam IV Transmission Substation in Rivers State on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The management of the company announced this in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Port-Harcourt.
The company said the addition of the new transformer has doubled the substation’s transformation capacity from 120MVA to 240MVA.
It said the project has significantly enhanced TCN’s transmission capacity to Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company’s (PHEDC) load center, enabling the DisCo to off-take more electricity for onward distribution to electricity consumers in Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs.
“This project is part of the ongoing TCN-World Bank power projects aimed at enhancing the nation’s power supply”, the TCN said.
