Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has congratulated the Publisher, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru and Management of The Guardian Newspapers on the 40th anniversary of the iconic media organisation.
The governor’s felicitation is contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Wednesday in Asaba.

He said that the Guardian Newspapers’ debut as a daily newspaper on July 4, 1983 as the flagship of the Nigerian press, remains phenomenal and impactful.
He noted that The Guardian had carved a niche for itself in news reporting, winning several awards over the years and gaining traction as one of the nation’s newspapers of choice.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate the Publisher, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru, management and staff of The Guardian Newspapers on the occasion of their 40th anniversary.
“As a government and as people from your home State of Delta, we are proud of the outstanding accomplishments of the flagship  media outfit and its contributions to the journalism profession as the watchdog of the society.
“As members of the Fourth Estate of the realm, your renowned newspaper and citadel of excellent journalism has always provided a platform for the analysis of news and happenings across the Country through your editorial reports nurtured by truth.
“We congratulate you on this milestone and wish you greater success in the future,” Oborevwori said.(NAN)
