FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said President Bola Tinubu is steering Nigeria steadily toward a future of meaningful development—even if he never promised to solve every problem overnight.
Wike made these remarks in Abuja on Friday during the flag-off of the Collector Road C01 project in the Institution and Research District. The new road will serve as a key link between the Body of Benchers complex and nearby educational institutions such as Nile University and Baze University.
According to Wike, Tinubu’s approach to governance is rooted in laying a solid foundation for long-term progress, rather than offering quick fixes.
“President Tinubu never said he would solve all of Nigeria’s problems,” Wike emphasized. “What he’s doing is putting the country on the right track. When he finishes, another person will come and continue from there.”
The FCT Minister stressed that governance is a relay, not a sprint, and no single leader can address all challenges in one term.
“Challenges will always come. No administration has ever solved every issue. But what matters is your contribution while in office,” he said. “History will record what you did—that’s what truly counts.”
Wike also reassured residents of the FCT that his own administration remains focused on delivering projects that address practical needs, making the most of available resources and time.
Commenting on the direct impact of the new road project, Wike noted that although the Body of Benchers complex is part of the plan, the real beneficiaries are the two private universities in the area.
“I hope these private institutions, which benefit from this road, will acknowledge what the Tinubu administration is doing,” he added. “If you recognise such efforts, you become a good citizen—and that is the duty of every good citizen.”
